Lau basin [ISS]
Site of the first coordinated study effort on a back-arc spreading center

Introduction
The East Lau Spreading Center, in the Lau back-arc basin, was chosen as an ISS because it provides the best back-arc site to study the complete range of spreading center processes, from mantle to microbe.
