Steering committee

The Ridge 2000 Steering Committee (STCOM) represents the broad community of scientists interested in the Ridge 2000 program. It sets directions and priorities for Ridge 2000 activities in response to community input and ensures that activities are carried out in a timely and effective manner. Members of the Steering Committee normally serve a three-year term, during which time they may also serve on one or more committees overseeing specific aspects of the program.

The Ridge 2000 Executive Committee (EXCOM) is a subset of the STCOM. It provides the Ridge 2000 chair with ongoing support and advice and is active year-round.

Stacy Kim

Stacy Kim is a benthic ecologist studying community structure in extreme habitats. She is especially interested in larval transport and the role it plays in species distributions at hydrothermal vents. Her recent work has focused on peripheral communities and the reproduction of dominant macrofauna at the Lau Integrated Studies Site. She also believes that the establishment of baseline databases for long-term research is critical particularly for understanding disturbance processes and ecosystem responses.
