Ridge 2000 is an interdisciplinary initiative to study Earth’s
oceanic spreading ridge system as an integrated whole, from its
inception in the mantle to its manifestations in the biosphere
and water column. The Ridge 2000 program is sponsored by the National
Science Foundation.

- Update on R2K funded projects: You can view the projects funded by R2K for the most recent proposal round. Full announcement was delayed longer than usual as decisions were finalized within NSF during a time when there was a transition in R2K program managers.
Site-specific projects are listed at the top; scroll to the 'ongoing' portion to see recently-funded program-wide projects. Some new projects funded by other programs but very relevant to R2K have also been added in the lower-most section of the table. More information...
- In Memoriam- Karen Von Damm: A central figure in documenting hydrothermal fluid chemistry, Karen contributed greatly to our understanding of deep-sea venting at oceanic spreading centers. Obituary at More information...
- R2K AGU Special Sessions: Two special sessions for Fall AGU will focus on interdisciplinary spreading center and hydrothermal ecosystem studies
Biogeosciences B11: Developing Integrated Models for Mid-ocean Ridge Processes at the Ridge 2000 East Pacific Rise Integrated Study Site
Volcanology, Geochemistry, & Petrology V16: Oceanic Spreading Centers and Volcanic Rift Systems: Tracking Fluxes and the Interplay Between Processes from Mantle to Microbe
