Abby studies deep-sea organisms. She wants to discover the extent to which animals from neighboring hydrothermal vent areas are related to each other: how they are different genetically. She has been focusing on tubeworms, scaleworms and mussels from the East Pacific. This slideshow will introduce some of the lab techniques she uses to determine the genetic code of the animals.
